The shortage of Multilayer Ceramic Chip Capacitors (MLCCs) is escalating and has now transcended the boundaries of the AI sector, leading to a scarcity of key specification products. Walsin Technology Corp. has highlighted that the 47μF specification is currently the most severely affected. With AI high-end orders consuming the production capacities of Japanese and Korean manufacturers, there's also a notable impact on high-capacity variants such as 10μF, 22μF, and X5R, which are extensively utilized in mobile phones and PCs. Forecasts suggest that the MLCC shortage is likely to continue until at least 2027, possibly extending to 2028, potentially outlasting the passive component shortage wave experienced in 2018.
