Recently, data unveiled by Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International (SEMI) revealed that in the first quarter of 2026, global sales of semiconductor manufacturing equipment surged to USD 36.55 billion. This represented a 1% increase from the previous quarter and a notable 14% rise year-on-year, setting a new record for quarterly sales. When it comes to the regional breakdown, the Chinese Mainland continued to dominate as the world's largest equipment market, boasting sales of USD 10.99 billion. South Korea outpaced Taiwan, China, securing the second spot with sales of USD 8.93 billion, while Taiwan, China slipped to third place, registering sales of USD 8.77 billion. North America, Europe, and Japan occupied the fourth to sixth positions, respectively.
