The Hubei Optics Valley Laboratory has made a groundbreaking announcement: the glass hard drive, a product of domestic innovation, developed by the team led by Zhang Jingyu from Huazhong University of Science and Technology and brought to industrial scale by Wuhan Yiyao Technology, has successfully entered small-scale mass production. This cutting-edge glass hard drive offers an impressive storage capacity of 360TB per single disk, boasts a theoretical lifespan that surpasses 100,000 years, and comes at a cost that is merely one-tenth of that associated with traditional storage media. With this achievement, China has proudly taken the lead as the first nation globally to realize large-scale commercialization of glass-based storage technology.
