On May 22, Allianz Research pointed out that the Middle East crisis may lead to a significant increase in semiconductor prices. The institution stated that the risk of energy shortages could exacerbate price hikes, as the current supply is already tight and highly concentrated. Additionally, shortages of key raw materials for semiconductor production, particularly helium, could disrupt factory operations, resulting in losses exceeding $10 billion per month. Allianz Research also noted that Qatar accounts for one-third of global helium production, and helium is almost entirely transported through Gulf terminals. Helium is a crucial input in the upstream of the artificial intelligence supply chain.
