Recently, a significant development unfolded in the semiconductor industry as India's Tata Electronics inked a memorandum of understanding with ASML, the Dutch behemoth in lithography machine manufacturing. This collaboration is set to propel the establishment of India's inaugural commercial front-end semiconductor wafer fabrication facility. Situated in Dholera, Gujarat, this ambitious project entails a substantial investment of around USD 11 billion (equivalent to approximately RMB 79.46 billion). It envisions a monthly production prowess of 50,000 12-inch wafers, with operations slated to kick off later this year. The facility will primarily concentrate on crafting chips tailored for pivotal sectors, including automotive electronics, mobile devices, and artificial intelligence, thereby catering to the demands of the global market.
