On May 14, reports surfaced indicating that JPMorgan had commented on the potential for the union's strike to have a more significant negative impact on Samsung's production than initially anticipated. This reflects the union's expectation of a higher level of worker involvement in the strike action. JPMorgan predicts that the strike could lead to a reduction in Samsung's operating profit by an amount ranging from KRW 21 trillion to KRW 31 trillion (equivalent to approximately USD 14.08 billion to USD 20.79 billion), along with a loss of sales opportunities valued at around KRW 450 billion. Media sources, citing industry insiders, have reported that Samsung Electronics commenced a reduction in chip production on Thursday, and there is a possibility that its South Korean workforce may follow up with a strike.
