On May 13, MediaTek rolled out the Dimensity AI Agent Engine 2.0 and Dimensity AI Developer Suite 3.0. Chen Guanzhou, the Director and General Manager of MediaTek, disclosed that over the past three years, the ranks of Dimensity AI ecosystem partners have swelled by 240%, while downloads of the developer suite have skyrocketed by 440%. As a frontrunner in the global mobile chip market in terms of shipments, MediaTek had been the subject of rumors regarding a potential collaboration with OpenAI. The speculation centered around the joint development of system-on-chips (SoCs) tailored for smartphones, with mass production slated for 2028. Lee Chun-nan, Senior Director of Technical Planning at MediaTek's Wireless Communication Business Unit, affirmed the company's proactive stance in exploring novel opportunities. He highlighted the varied trajectories of large-scale model development within the AI sphere and the substantial prospects identified internally. Nevertheless, MediaTek refrained from directly addressing queries about specific partner companies.
