In light of the continued postponement of the NF-A12x25 G2 black version fan's launch, Noctua has shed light on the underlying cause: producing black fans is far from a straightforward task of merely incorporating dye; it demands an extraordinary degree of manufacturing precision. Let's take the NF-A12x25 series as a case in point. The clearance between the impeller and the frame is a mere 0.5mm, and achieving micron-level tolerance control is pivotal for preserving performance. However, altering the material presents substantial hurdles. Upon the addition of carbon black, the material's physical characteristics undergo transformation, resulting in dimensional discrepancies that can compromise performance. To guarantee uniform performance of the black version, Noctua opted not to recycle the outdated mold. Instead, they embarked on the journey of redesigning and engineering a brand-new one, a process that necessitates 6 to 12 months of rigorous verification testing. Consequently, the black version's release schedule trails nearly 10 months behind that of the standard version.
