Spurred by the skyrocketing demand for AI computational capabilities, both AMD and Intel witnessed a price surge in their consumer-grade CPUs, ranging from 5% to 10%, in March of this year. Simultaneously, the prices of server CPUs soared by 10% to 20%. Projections indicate that the scarcity of CPUs will continue until 2027, with a potential new wave of price modifications anticipated in the third quarter of 2026. AMD has outlined plans to implement two successive price hikes for its server CPUs in the second and third quarters of 2026, with the cumulative increase projected to fall between 16% and 17%. Intel, having already adjusted the prices of its PC CPUs in March and server CPUs on April 1, experienced a resurgence in its gross profit margin during the second quarter. The market anticipates a price escalation of 8% to 10% in the latter half of the year.
