On April 17, reports surfaced indicating that recent interruptions in helium production, coupled with potential export restrictions in some overseas areas, have sparked market worries regarding the possible repercussions for semiconductor manufacturing. In the realm of foundry services, TSMC's executives highlighted during the earnings call on April 16 that geopolitical factors, such as the situation unfolding in the Middle East, could drive up prices for specific chemicals and gases. This, in turn, might impact the company's bottom line, although the magnitude of this effect remains challenging to gauge at present. SMIC's Securities Affairs Department clarified that the company boasts a variety of helium supply sources, ensuring that its current supply status remains uninterrupted and normal. When it comes to memory chips, Samsung Electronics noted that its sophisticated supply chain diversification strategies and ample inventory levels position it to weather limited short-term disruptions. SK Hynix, for its part, refrained from commenting on issues pertaining to the ongoing conflict.
