AI chips are subject to increasingly stringent demands for performance and integration, which has positioned advanced packaging and substrate technologies as the key battlegrounds in the semiconductor industry. According to reports, Samsung Electro-Mechanics is currently building a new production line at its Vietnam factory, dedicated to manufacturing multilayer ceramic capacitor (MLCC)-embedded semiconductor substrates. This move is aimed at enhancing its foothold in the AI semiconductor supply chain. As a crucial component in electronic devices, MLCCs play a vital role in ensuring stable power supply and signal denoising in AI servers. With the widespread adoption of AI technology, the demand for MLCCs has skyrocketed. Leveraging its expertise in ultra-miniature, high-capacity MLCC technology, Samsung Electro-Mechanics already commands approximately 40% of the market share in AI servers. This expansion of production capacity is poised to further cement its leading position in the market.
