Recently, Shenzhen's Huaqiangbei electronics market has witnessed a dramatic nosedive in the prices of DDR5 memory sticks. Models boasting 32GB capacities have seen their price tags plummet from a hefty 3,000 yuan per stick to a more modest range of 1,950-2,500 yuan. This translates to a significant drop of 500-1,050 yuan per stick, marking a maximum decline exceeding 35%. According to merchants, the earlier price surges dampened consumer demand, and small to medium-sized merchants, in particular, found themselves under financial strain after amassing large inventories. Moreover, the market has been inundated with low-priced decommissioned products, fueling this wave of selling.

Merchants are divided in their outlook on the market's future trajectory. Some are of the opinion that prices have yet to hit rock bottom, while others contend that the prices set by upstream manufacturers remain stable, hinting that the current price drops may not be sustainable in the long run. Analysts from listed companies posit that this is merely a cyclical adjustment within the industry. They believe that, in the long term, the burgeoning demand from AI and data centers will continue to underpin the industry's growth and development.
