At the 2026 Global Sodium-ion Battery Industry Ecosystem Conference, Li Shujun, the General Manager of HiNa Battery Technology Co., Ltd., announced that the cost of sodium-ion batteries is experiencing a swift decline. By the first quarter of 2026, the cost per cell had plummeted to RMB 0.35-0.40/Wh, substantially reducing the price differential compared to lithium iron phosphate batteries. He forecasted that within the upcoming year or two, the cost of sodium-ion batteries is projected to reach parity with that of lithium-ion batteries. By 2028, the industry is expected to scale up to 100 GWh, with cell costs further decreasing to RMB 0.3/Wh and energy density surpassing 180 Wh/kg.
