On March 25, Arm, a company renowned for licensing technology to semiconductor manufacturers, announced that it will begin selling its own chips for the first time, aiming to capture greater revenue from spending on artificial intelligence devices. During an event in San Francisco on March 24, Arm stated that Meta will be the primary customer for its first AGI CPU chip. The chip features up to 136 cores and consumes 300 watts of power, and will be manufactured by TSMC. Following the announcement, Arm's American depositary shares surged to an intraday high. Arm expects the new chip business to generate approximately $15 billion in annual revenue within five years, helping the company achieve total annual sales of around $25 billion.
