Recently, the research team co-led by Professor Zhou Linjie and Professor Lu Liangjun from the School of Integrated Circuits at Shanghai Jiao Tong University has achieved a remarkable breakthrough in the realm of on-chip integrated photonic computing. The team has successfully developed a time-wavelength-space interleaved integrated photonic 3D tensor processing engine, abbreviated as 3D-TPE.
This innovative engine leverages the collaborative operation of a microring optical switch array and a tunable delay line array chip to perform data buffering, channel clock synchronization, and tensor computation functions within the optical domain. Moreover, it offers flexible clock frequency control capabilities, enhancing its adaptability and performance.
When deployed for LiDAR 3D point cloud map inference tasks at a 20 GHz main frequency, the engine demonstrates exceptional recognition accuracy, reaching up to 97.06%. The relevant research findings have been published.
