On March 18, Bloomberg reported that Samsung Electronics is considering changing its memory chip contracts to multi-year agreements, a move longer than the conventional term, to help stabilize supply and alleviate market concerns over shortages of key components. Samsung co-CEO Jun Young-hyun revealed at the annual shareholder meeting that the company is planning to extend contract signing cycles from the current quarterly or annual basis to three to five years. He expects demand for AI memory chips to continue surging in 2026.
