A-Shares' Three Key Indices Kick Off with a Collective Uptick, Communication Equipment Sector Takes the Lead

On March 18, 2026, the three major indices of A-shares all experienced a positive opening. The Shanghai Composite Index saw a modest rise of 0.08%, while the Shenzhen Component Index climbed 0.49%, and the ChiNext Index surged by 0.85%. Leading the charge in terms of sectoral gains were communication equipment, semiconductors, and the aerospace and defense industries. Notably, Tianfu Communication soared by 5%, GigaDevice jumped over 3%, and both Guanglian Aviation and Eoptolink Technology witnessed increases exceeding 2%. Conversely, the energy, diversified financial, and precious metals sectors lagged behind. Geo-Jade Petroleum slumped over 3%, PetroChina Capital dropped more than 2%, and Western Gold saw a decline exceeding 1%.
