On March 10, the General Office of the Guangdong Provincial People's Government unveiled the Action Plan for Accelerating the Cultivation and Development of New Growth Sectors to Propel the Construction of a Modern Industrial System in Guangdong Province (2026-2035). According to the plan, Guangdong will prioritize segments like optical communication, optical sensing, and optical computing. It aims to intensify research and development efforts on key materials, equipment, and processes for optical chips, while also accelerating the R&D and localization of crucial equipment. Additionally, the plan calls for broadening the application scenarios and enhancing the utilization of optical chips in information transmission, detection, and sensing across various fields, including next-generation information and communication, data centers, intelligent computing centers, biomedicine, and intelligent connected vehicles.
