The General Office of the Guangdong Provincial People's Government has unveiled the "Action Plan for Accelerating the Cultivation and Expansion of Emerging Growth Sectors to Propel the Development of a Modern Industrial System in Guangdong Province (2026–2035)". This strategic blueprint explicitly emphasizes the prioritization of research and development, design, and manufacturing efforts for high-end general-purpose AI chips, encompassing GPUs, FPGAs, and NPUs, as well as specialized ASIC AI chips. Concurrently, it underscores the necessity to expedite the advancement of AI chips grounded in reduced instruction set computing (RISC) architectures, such as RISC-V, and to proactively delve into pioneering chip solutions. These innovative solutions include high-performance in-memory computing, neuromorphic computing, photonic computing, and the integration of optics and electronics. Furthermore, the plan advocates for the deployment of high-bandwidth memory chips and the ongoing enhancement of the development and application ecosystem for AI chips.
