On March 4, 2026, the Chang Lin Team at Peking University's School of Electronics, in collaboration with the teams led by Lingyang Song and Boya Di, unveiled their groundbreaking research in Nature Photonics. Titled "Full dimensional control of structured microwaves based on microcombs", this study leveraged integrated microcavity optical combs to power microwave photonic antenna arrays, enabling comprehensive, coordinated control over structured microwaves. Moreover, the team successfully applied these advancements in integrated communication-sensing scenarios.
By employing multi-dimensional coordinated multiplexing technology, the team achieved a remarkable 30-fold increase in the 6G channel rate, coupled with efficient four-dimensional information sensing capabilities. This milestone represents a pivotal advancement for 6G communications, high-precision sensing, and quantum technologies, paving the way for future innovations in these fields.
