Based on the latest report from Jon Peddie Research (JPR), the global shipments of desktop discrete GPUs reached 44.28 million units in 2025, marking an increase of nearly 10 million units compared to the previous year. However, the market is experiencing a significant polarization. NVIDIA has emerged as the dominant player, capturing a staggering 94% of the market share. In stark contrast, AMD's share in the desktop discrete GPU market has plummeted to just 5%, hitting a historic low. NVIDIA's remarkable growth can be largely attributed to the success of its RTX 50 series graphics cards. On the other hand, AMD's RX 9000 series has struggled to gain traction in the market. Although AMD has demonstrated strong performance in the integrated graphics market, the high user loyalty and profitability in the discrete GPU sector are not enough to compensate for its underwhelming performance in the discrete graphics business. Despite Intel's launch of new Arc graphics cards, the company has failed to penetrate the mainstream market, effectively securing no market share in 2025.
