Apple has issued a reminder to developers and users today: future versions of macOS will no longer support Intel-chip Mac computers, and the support for applications via the Rosetta 2 compatibility layer will also terminate after macOS 27. The macOS Tahoe, released in the fall of 2025, will be the last version to support Intel-based Macs, marking the countdown to Apple's phase-out of the Intel platform. Starting with macOS 27, released in 2026, all new system versions will only support Apple Silicon models. However, Apple will provide security updates for macOS Tahoe until the fall of 2028.
