TSMC, the world's largest chip foundry, plans to build four additional wafer plants in its Phoenix campus in Arizona with an investment of approximately $100 billion, with official confirmation that the announcement could come as early as April this year. Despite the U.S. government's strong push for localization of the semiconductor industry, TSMC's most advanced 1.4-nanometer chip foundry will not be located in the United States but in Taiwan, meaning the U.S. has failed to secure TSMC's most advanced foundry technology.
