According to data published by the Lithium Division of the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association, January 2026 saw a notable surge in lithium carbonate prices, coupled with vigorous market trading. From a supply perspective, production levels maintained stability, despite some cathode material manufacturers undertaking production line maintenance. On the demand front, factors such as the ongoing national subsidies and a reduction in export tax rebates for lithium batteries fostered optimistic outlooks for the new energy vehicle market. This, in turn, spurred a surge in demand for export-oriented orders in the first quarter. Regarding pricing, battery-grade lithium carbonate experienced a monthly uptick of 28.15%, while industrial-grade lithium carbonate increased by 26.69%. Additionally, the closing price of the primary contract rose by 14.02%.
