Intel integrated the Neural Processing Unit (NPU) into its Core Ultra 100 series processors, aligning with the demands of Microsoft's Copilot+ AI PC framework. Nevertheless, the computational prowess of the third-generation NPU, featured in the Meteor Lake and the Core Ultra 200 series Arrow Lake processors within this lineup, fell short of the 40 TOPS benchmark essential for Copilot+. To bridge this gap, Intel incorporated the fourth-generation NPU in the Lunar Lake processor, elevating its computational capacity to 50 TOPS and thereby fulfilling the prerequisite. Looking ahead, the NPU computing power of the forthcoming Nova Lake processor is projected to soar to an impressive 74 TOPS, propelling AI processing capabilities to new heights.
