On February 11, 2026, reports surfaced indicating that ByteDance is making significant strides in its self-developed AI chip initiative, known as SeedChip. The company is currently in talks with Samsung Electronics to explore potential foundry collaboration. The objective is to secure chip samples by the end of March, with an initial plan to mass-produce a minimum of 100,000 AI inference chips within the year. There is also the possibility of scaling up production capacity to 350,000 units in the subsequent phase. When approached for comment, a ByteDance spokesperson clarified that the relevant information was not accurate but refrained from providing further elaboration.
