Ge Qun, who serves as the Global Senior Vice President, Chairman, and President of Synopsys China—a prominent player in the Electronic Design Automation (EDA) and semiconductor Intellectual Property (IP) sectors—is slated to leave his position, with Yao Yao stepping in as the interim head of sales for the China region. This development was formally announced through an internal company memo several hours ago. The memo disclosed that Ge Qun's decision to depart stems mainly from his need to take a break and attend to his ailing father. Ge Qun's father is a scientific researcher who contributed to the 'Two Bombs, One Satellite' project and has been a member of the party for over 60 years. Under his father's influence, Ge Qun embarked on a career in the semiconductor industry. Born in December 1976, Ge Qun is an alumnus of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He commenced his professional journey at ICC in 2000 and transitioned to Synopsys in 2006. Starting as a Strategic Solutions Manager, he ascended through the ranks to eventually assume the role of Chairman and President of Synopsys China. Synopsys lauded Ge Qun as a pivotal architect of its China strategy, acknowledging his instrumental role in charting development paths, propelling business expansion, and offering consistent leadership that paved the way for the acquisition of Ansys.
