Recently, a Reddit user with the handle u/dobum revealed that, owing to a mistake made by a Swiss retailer, they managed to buy AMD's Ryzen 7 9850X3D processor—which had not yet been officially released—a whole week before its scheduled debut. The purchase price was 450 Swiss francs (equivalent to roughly $570, or about 3,969 Chinese yuan). The processor was initially set to hit the market on January 29, 2026, with an official price tag of $499. After acquiring the processor, u/dobum put it through its paces using the latest BIOS on an MSI X870E motherboard. The results showed a Cinebench 2026 single - thread score of 568 points, putting it on par with the Ryzen 7 9800X3D. In gaming performance tests, the processor delivered a frame rate exceeding 900 FPS in CS2. However, it failed to demonstrate a significant generational leap in performance. Additionally, under the current BIOS, the processor could not reach its advertised all - core boost frequency of 5.7 GHz.
