Recently, the research team at the Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology under the Chinese Academy of Sciences, helmed by Researcher Yu Wenjie and Researcher Mu Zhiqiang, has registered multiple significant advances. These breakthroughs are in the areas of high-frequency devices tailored for 5G/6G communications, reconfigurable RF filters, and magnetoacoustic coupling sensing, leveraging single-crystal aluminum nitride (AlN) and scandium-doped aluminum nitride (AlScN) piezoelectric materials. At the IEEE International Ultrasonics Symposium (IUS) — a leading international conference in the field of ultrasonics, held in 2025 — the team showcased their research findings through seven papers, which included three oral presentations and four poster displays.
