In 2025, Xiaomi unveiled the recipients of its prestigious 'Ten Million Technology Awards,' with its in-house-developed chip, the 'Surge O1,' taking home the grand prize. Lei Jun marked his seventh consecutive year of attendance at the award ceremony. He emphasized that the recognition bestowed upon the 'Surge O1' was well-earned and urged the team to sustain their momentum. This year's awards saw a remarkable 154 project submissions from 10 departments, with 66 projects progressing to the final evaluation stage, showcasing unprecedented numbers and quality. Alongside the 'Surge O1,' ten other projects secured second and third prizes. Lei Jun disclosed that Xiaomi's R&D expenditure over the past five years has actually amounted to roughly 105 billion yuan, surpassing the pledged 100 billion yuan, and outlined plans to allocate an additional 200 billion yuan in the next five years to conquer core underlying technologies. By 2026, Xiaomi aims to seamlessly integrate in-house chips, OS, and AI large models into a unified terminal, while fostering innovative growth in the robotics sector.
