During CES 2026, AMD officially introduced a fresh member to its Ryzen 9000 series lineup—the Ryzen 7 9850X3D. Serving as an enhanced iteration of the renowned Ryzen 7 9800X3D, this processor leverages the Zen 5 architecture. It's constructed using TSMC's 4nm CCD (Core Chiplet Die) and 6nm IOD (Input/Output Die). This processor boasts 8 cores and 16 threads. It comes equipped with 8MB of L2 cache, 32MB of native L3 cache, and a whopping 64MB of 3D V-Cache. In total, it offers a staggering 104MB of cache. Additionally, it integrates a 2-unit GPU. The maximum boost frequency of this processor has seen a significant uplift, going from 5.2GHz on the 9800X3D to 5.6GHz. Meanwhile, the base frequency remains steady at 4.7GHz, and the TDP (Thermal Design Power) stays put at 120W. AMD has claimed that the Ryzen 7 9850X3D outperforms Intel's Core Ultra 9 285K by an average of 27% in gaming performance when running at 1080P high settings. In the case of Baldur's Gate 3, it even boasts a 60% performance advantage. Furthermore, this new processor will coexist with its predecessor, the 9800X3D, in the product range for a considerable duration. This processor is slated to hit the market in the first quarter of 2026. Alienware has also disclosed that an Area-51 desktop version powered by this processor will be launched in February.
