On January 6th, Qualcomm (QCOM.O), the globe's premier mobile phone chip producer, declared its intention to further extend its reach in the personal computer core processor market. The freshly unveiled X2 Plus processor represents a refined iteration of its current offerings, specifically tailored for more budget-friendly laptops. This processor will come in two variants, boasting 10 and 6 compute cores respectively, both harnessing the cutting-edge third-generation Oryon architecture.

Qualcomm highlighted that a standout feature of this processor is its integrated, high-performance Neural Processing Unit (NPU). This NPU not only accelerates the response time of artificial intelligence software but also ensures that battery consumption does not spike. At present, Qualcomm has already rolled out the Snapdragon X2 Elite and Elite Extreme chips, which are predominantly utilized in laptops priced over $1,000.
