Luo Weiren, the 75-year-old former senior vice president of TSMC, embarked on a new career path by joining Intel Corporation after his retirement from TSMC. However, he has now found himself embroiled in a legal battle, facing allegations of stealing TSMC's proprietary secrets related to advanced processes, notably the 2nm technology. On November 26, prosecutors conducted a thorough search at two of Luo Weiren's residences, one in Hsinchu County and the other in Taipei City. During the raid, they confiscated a substantial amount of evidence, including computers and portable hard drives, which are suspected to contain the stolen information. Additionally, prosecutors have formally requested the Intellectual Property Court to freeze stocks and real estate registered under Luo Weiren's name, a request that has since been granted. Having dedicated 21 years of his career to TSMC, Luo Weiren has amassed assets with a total value surpassing NT$2 billion.
