Recently, the launch event for the 2026 IEEE International Solid-State Circuits Conference (ISSCC) in China, often hailed as the “Chip Olympics,” took place at the Purple Mountain Laboratories in Nanjing. During this event, the acceptance results for papers submitted to the latest edition of the conference were announced, and attendees were also briefed on the latest advancements in the global chip industry. This year, ISSCC received a total of 1,025 submissions from around the globe. Out of these, only 257 papers made the cut, translating to an acceptance rate of 25.1%. Notably, Tsinghua University led the pack globally with 18 accepted papers, while Southeast University secured the third spot in mainland China with 6 papers. In a significant milestone, Huazhong University of Science and Technology achieved paper acceptance for the first time, serving as the primary authoring institution. Moreover, the event spotlighted the latest breakthroughs in chip fields, including memory technologies, LPDDR6, and GDDR7.
