At the 2025 TSMC OIP Ecosystem Forum, Lu Lizhong, a representative from TSMC, emphasized that the power consumption of AI systems is escalating at an alarming exponential rate. Consequently, energy efficiency has become a pivotal factor for the broad - scale deployment of AI.

TSMC is making steady progress in the development of its N14 technology. Simultaneously, the company is continuously enhancing its N3 and N5 technologies. When comparing the performance from the N7 to the N14 technology node, under the same power consumption conditions, the operational speed witnesses a 1.8 - fold increase, and the energy efficiency sees a remarkable 4.2 - fold improvement. Furthermore, each new technology node introduced by TSMC can reduce power consumption by roughly 30% in comparison to the preceding node.
