As large-scale AI inference models are put into use, storage products have transitioned from mere computing accessories to strategic materials essential for AI infrastructure. Driven by the soaring global demand for AI computing power, memory chip prices have experienced a dramatic surge. In a bid to prioritize profitability, Samsung's semiconductor division has withheld long-term memory chip supplies to its Mobile Experience division for over a year, sparking interdepartmental tensions.

On November 12, reports indicated that the price of 12GB LPDDR5X memory soared to US$70, marking a twofold increase since the start of the year. Consequently, Samsung's mobile phone division is now compelled to renew its supply contracts on a quarterly basis, with the current agreement covering only the fourth quarter of this year. Analysts predict that due to escalating prices of DRAM and NAND flash memory, the flagship Samsung Galaxy S26 series may witness price increases in the first half of the coming year.
