Wei-Jen Lo, who previously held the position of Vice President at TSMC, came under suspicion for allegedly gathering confidential details regarding the company's cutting-edge manufacturing techniques, including its 2-nanometer technology, prior to his retirement. Subsequently, after retiring, he joined Intel, which has raised alarms within the industry regarding the potential leakage of technology. TSMC has taken legal action by filing a lawsuit, charging him with breaching the non-compete agreement and, allegedly, disclosing confidential information. Prosecutors carried out an unexpected search at Wei-Jen Lo's home, confiscating computers and USB drives. Additionally, they froze assets valued at over NT$2 billion that were registered under his name. In response, Intel stated that there is no basis to consider the accusations as credible. Wei-Jen Lo, who dedicated 21 years of his career to TSMC and spearheaded numerous significant technological advancements, epitomizes the intense global rivalry for top-tier technological expertise in the semiconductor sector.
