According to relevant reports, Ainekko, a startup company focusing on open-source AI hardware and software, has successfully acquired the intellectual property along with some assets of Esperanto Technologies, an AI chip company. The acquired assets cover a wide range, including chip designs, software tools, and development frameworks.
Ainekko has set its sights on open-sourcing Esperanto's production-grade multi-core RISC-V architecture. This open-sourcing initiative will encompass various elements, such as RTL code, reference designs, and development tools.
It's worth noting that Esperanto had previously introduced the ET-SoC-1 chip. Built on the RISC-V architecture, this chip stands out with its integration of nearly 1,100 cores. Moreover, it is manufactured using TSMC's advanced 7nm process. The ET-SoC-1 chip is specifically tailored for AI inference and high-performance computing applications. Its primary goal is to significantly cut down on energy consumption within data centers.
This acquisition by Ainekko is expected to play a pivotal role in further accelerating the widespread adoption of the RISC-V architecture in the rapidly evolving AI field.
