On November 14, 2025, in Hong Kong, China, StarFive Technology rolled out its inaugural data center management chip, the "Lion Rock Core," which is built upon the RISC-V architecture. This event signifies the first large-scale commercial implementation of RISC-V in the data center industry.
In partnership with Super Computing Cloud, the development of this chip was remarkably swift, taking a mere 16 months from the signing of the protocol to the successful activation of the first chip. Regarding technological integration and ecosystem co-construction, StarFive Technology garnered support from Intel. At present, the "Lion Rock Core" has undergone platform management function verification in Intel's customer reference systems, showcasing its compatibility and operational stability when paired with Intel's processor platforms.
The "Lion Rock Core" is outfitted with StarFive Technology's in-house developed RISC-V core and a coherent on-chip network. This setup allows for functional expansion and custom development tailored to specific application scenarios. The chip has attained international mainstream benchmarks in crucial metrics such as specifications, functionality, performance, and power consumption. It is set to be deployed in various scenarios, including AI servers, edge computing, and smart energy, thereby playing a pivotal role in the construction of computing infrastructure.
