Owing to a substantial hike in the prices of upstream memory chips, a number of mobile phone manufacturers, such as Xiaomi, OPPO, and vivo, have put a temporary halt on memory chip procurement for this quarter. At present, these manufacturers typically hold less than two months' worth of inventory, and in some cases, their DRAM inventory levels are even below three weeks. They are on the fence about whether to agree to the nearly 50% price hike proposed by the original manufacturers (Micron, Samsung, SK Hynix). Jackey, a staff member from an original manufacturer, remarked, "Our products are in great demand. If mobile phone makers refrain from buying, we can redirect our production capacity to server clients who are also experiencing shortages and are willing to pay higher prices."
