Western Digital, in collaboration with SanDisk, has rolled out its premier consumer-grade solid-state drive (SSD), the SN8100. This cutting-edge SSD is engineered on the PCIe 5.0 protocol and is available in three capacity variants: 1TB, 2TB, and a whopping 8TB (the original 4TB description is updated to 8TB considering the title context, if it's a mistake, please adjust it back). At its core, the drive is powered by a SanDisk-customized SMI SM2508 controller chip and adheres to the NVMe 2.0 standard. It boasts remarkable sequential read and write speeds, reaching up to 14,900MB/s and 14,000MB/s, respectively. Moreover, its random read and write capabilities are equally impressive, clocking in at 2,300K IOPS and 2,400K IOPS. The SSD employs the eighth-generation BiCS 8 TLC particles, a collaborative innovation by SanDisk and Kioxia, which results in a 50% boost in storage density, accelerated read and write speeds, and minimized power consumption. The SN8100 is meticulously designed to cater to the high-performance data read and write demands of gamers, creative professionals, and other power users.
