On October 14 (local time), the US stock market wrapped up the trading day with a mixed performance. The Dow Jones Industrial Average posted a gain of 0.44%, while the S&P 500 Index edged down by 0.16%. The Nasdaq Composite Index also experienced a downturn, dropping 0.76%.
The technology sector, in particular, faced headwinds, with most leading tech stocks closing in the red. Nvidia saw a significant decline of 4.41%, leading to a contraction in its market capitalization by over $200 billion (equivalent to more than RMB 1.4 trillion). Broadcom also took a hit, with its shares falling over 3%. In contrast, Navitas Semiconductor emerged as a bright spot, surging 26.08%.
Additionally, the Nasdaq Golden Dragon China Index, which tracks Chinese companies listed in the US, fell by 1.95%. Prominent Chinese concept stocks, such as Alibaba and Baidu, were among those that generally experienced declines.
