Recently, Humbird unveiled its groundbreaking creation on the crowdfunding platform Kickstarter: the Humbird 3, the world's inaugural desktop Thunderbolt 5 graphics card dock. This innovative product harnesses the power of Intel's JHL9480 Thunderbolt 5 controller chip, offering an impressive bandwidth of up to 120Gbps. It seamlessly serves as both a high-speed I/O hub and an external GPU enclosure.
The Humbird 3 comes with a physical ×16 PCIe 4.0 slot, facilitating the connection of desktop graphics cards or other devices that demand high bandwidth. Moreover, it boasts a built-in M.2 PCIe 4.0×4 NVMe slot, accommodating a maximum capacity of 32TB.
In terms of connectivity, the Humbird 3 offers three Thunderbolt 5 ports, each equipped with 100W PD output, along with two USB-A 10Gbps ports, one DisplayPort 2.1 port (which supports 8K@60Hz output), one 5GbE Ethernet port, and a pair of SD/microSD UHS-II card readers.
Adding to its versatility, the Humbird 3 features a 0.99-inch status display and incorporates wireless charging functionality, enabling it to charge mobile phones and smartwatches with ease. Its exterior is crafted from a slim aluminum casing, measuring just 22 millimeters in thickness and weighing a mere 580 grams.
