The global semiconductor sector is currently undergoing a pivotal transformation, propelled by the artificial intelligence (AI) boom. During an off-site session at SEMICON West, Chen Liwu, CEO of Intel, reaffirmed the company’s ambition to triple the size of its foundry operations. He underscored the necessity for the foundry division to forge a mutually beneficial scenario by bolstering both its delivery prowess and customer confidence. Additionally, he disclosed that Intel’s 18A process technology is slated for high-volume manufacturing by the close of 2025, with the inaugural products to feature the Panther Lake System-on-Chip (SoC). Concurrently, Intel is intensifying its collaborative efforts with entities like Cadence and Siemens EDA to refine design methodologies and bolster ecosystem support.
