Recently, Liu Xiaolong's research team hailing from the Shenzhen - Hong Kong College of Microelectronics at the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) has achieved remarkable advancements in the realm of millimeter - wave communication chip design. Their pertinent research outcomes have been accepted by internationally renowned top - tier journals, namely IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques (IEEE TMTT) and IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems - I: Regular Papers (IEEE TCAS - I).

Moreover, the undergraduate students from the 21st grade, who were guided by this research group, have been shortlisted for the Best Student Paper Award at the 2025 IEEE International Conference on Ultrawideband and Ultrashort Impulse Signals (IEEE UCMMT).

Regarding the research on millimeter - wave low - noise amplifier chips, the team has put forward an input matching bandwidth expansion technology that leverages multi - coil coupling. This innovative approach has led to the attainment of a record - setting input matching bandwidth. As for the research on millimeter - wave oscillator chips, the team has proposed a millimeter - wave oscillator that eliminates the need for second and third harmonic tuning. This breakthrough has resulted in an improvement in phase noise performance.
