On September 4 (local time), U.S. President Trump made an announcement stating that tariffs would be levied on imported products from semiconductor companies that haven't relocated their production to the United States. However, companies that are making investments in the U.S. or have concrete plans to construct factories there may be eligible for exemption.

Trump mentioned that the tariff rate would be significant, yet not excessively burdensome. He also commended Apple CEO Tim Cook, highlighting Apple's commitment to investing a substantial $600 billion in the U.S. over the next four years. Prior to this, TSMC, Samsung, and SK Hynix had already revealed their intentions to establish factories in the United States.
