A research team, headed by Professor Wang Feng from the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics at the Chinese Academy of Sciences and in partnership with the University of Trieste in Italy, has achieved a significant breakthrough in the realm of photocatalytic hydrogen heterolysis. They have successfully carried out hydrogen heterolysis at ambient temperature. This remarkable accomplishment was featured in the esteemed international academic journal Science on September 5.
Hydrogen heterolysis holds immense importance in the chemical industry. Traditionally, this process necessitated high-temperature and high-pressure environments. However, this new advancement is poised to dramatically cut down on energy consumption and substantially mitigate safety hazards.
