The United States has rescinded the exemptions previously granted to semiconductor factories operated by Samsung, SK Hynix, Intel (Dalian facility), and TSMC in China. As a result, these factories must now individually apply for licenses when purchasing American equipment, introducing an element of uncertainty into the process. Among the affected facilities, while TSMC's Nanjing plant is indeed impacted, the scope of this influence remains relatively limited. Conversely, Samsung and SK Hynix face more substantial repercussions, as their Chinese factories constitute a significant portion of their memory and flash memory production capacities. This strategic move by the US is widely perceived as an effort to enhance its control over the global semiconductor industry chain.
