On September 1, reports emerged stating that Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) is contemplating a price increase of 5% to 10% for its high-end process nodes in 2026. This move is aimed at mitigating the effects of US tariffs, exchange rate fluctuations, and escalating supply chain costs. TSMC has already informed its foundry partners about this potential price hike, which encompasses processes like 5nm, 4nm, 3nm, and 2nm. Consequently, TSMC's prominent high-end process customers, including NVIDIA and Apple, can expect to incur higher chip costs. In response to the rumors of the price increase, TSMC Chairman Wei Zhejia responded with humor, refraining from direct confirmation.
