A federal judge in California has ordered Nvidia to stand trial for allegedly obtaining business secrets unlawfully. The case originates from an incident where an engineer, who had defected from a European automotive technology company to join Nvidia, leaked his former employer's core autonomous driving technology. The plaintiff, a German subsidiary of the Valeo Group, alleges that Nvidia improperly utilized confidential information to develop a parking assistance system. Although Nvidia asserts that it has dismissed the engineer and won a lawsuit in Germany, the judge believes there is circumstantial evidence indicating that Nvidia may have benefited from the breach. Consequently, the trial is set to commence in November.
